When to go

Located on the equator, the Galapagos islands are subject to oceanic currents that influence temperatures on the archipelago. However, the weather is pleasant, at any time of the year.

Seasons can be divided in two:

  • From June to November : a dry and cool season (temperature hovers around 20° Celsius during the day), it is the season of the « garua » -a kind of drizzle-. This is the best time of the year to see nesting marine birds.
  • From December to May : a hot and humid one (average temperature is 28° C), when the tropical heat is tempered by Pacific winds. This season is particularly favourable for sea turtles watching, scuba diving and snorkelling.
